September Missions Meeting Minutes
From Bro. Christopher
* Bro. Christopher has asked Jeannette Glass to search the aspects of
obtaining a container to be filled and shipped to Ghana. A chair for
this project will be appointed so a container can be shipped annually
to Ghana and, hopefully, to other areas.
*Bro. Christopher has received various requests for support in foreign
areas (Uganda, Congo, Botswana, Cameroon, Kaufmann Texas (a Hispanic
church), etc. The harvest is great even in foreign lands!
*An elder from the Webb Chapel congregation has requested that Bro.
Christopher visit a village in Guyana with their team to investigate
the work. The people in Guyana are requesting that Bro. Christopher
come and hold a gospel meeting for a few days.
*There is a group of men causing unrest in Jamaica near St. Catherine.
This is one of the areas that Greenville Avenue supports. It has been
suggested that we not visit this area at this time. Bro. Christopher
will make plans to investigate the work in Jamaica in 2008.
*Bro. Cedric Stephenson, a brother from GACC congregation, has requested
that a group from our church join him in a work effort in Mexico. He
would like to take a team to work in Mexico every year or every other
year. This is a good opportunity for our youth to get involved in missions.
*Next year the missions group will plan to do fundraisers for specified
projects in our designated missions work areas; for example, raising
funds for benevolent efforts in Ateiku, Ghana, etc.
*To bring awareness to our college students at Greenville, James Bradley
(one of the teachers of this age group) suggested having a special class
regarding the missions area and its various activities. Hopefully, this
will get the college-age members interested in working in missions.
*Our next Missions Meeting will be in January
2008. Please check the Missions Board for the upcoming
meeting dates and activities.
Missions Updates
* Upcoming Trip to Ghana:
There will be a team traveling to Ateiku and Tamso, Ghana October 19th.
Keep them in your prayers: Ray and Mary Christopher, James and Linda
Harris, Randy Clark, James Bradley, Margaret Johnson and Elizabeth Griffin.
Our efforts on this trip will be for the men to work with the evangelizing
team, present gospel messages and encourage the preaching efforts in
Ghana. The men will also participate in a graduation ceremony for the
men of the Rural Evangelism Development Project (REDP). The women will
concentrate on training the young ladies of the villages to take care
of their bodies physically and their minds and hearts spiritually. They
will share lessons with the ladies on how to guard against Satan and
his tactics by putting on the whole armor of God.
*Bro. Lawrence Oduro is working on presenting a Health Fair for the
many communities in this area. If you have any old and unused prescription
glasses (nearsighted and farsighted) please bring them to Bro. Christopher’s
office. We are looking forward to a rewarding experience in Ghana and
with the people in this area.
